I prefer to crochet, but I can knit.

I am a much better crocheter than knitter, and enjoy crochet much more, too.

Am I the only one who knits as a means of self punishment or "self-flagellation" during times of reflection?

I inadvertently hurt someone last week (emotionally, not physically), and felt so poorly about it, I picked up some knitting needles and started knitting, when I loathe knitting.

I apologized profusely, as one would do under the circumstances.
I felt like utter garbage wrapped in skin under the circumstances.

Three-to-four days later, and I'm just about to bind off and finish my project (a small, mistake filled basket weave patterned face cloth in cotton), and somehow, I feel better, calmer than I did.
